Veneto Mixed Case AMEX

Veneto Mixed Case AMEX

6 Pack Case

This is the a rich full white, also based on Garganega, but with a bit of oak aging to round out the texture and provide a bit of grip and weight.
Vinification: A nearly even blend of Garganega, Cortese and Manzoni with a short, early aging period in new French barrique before finishing in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes: Straw robe with honeysuckle, spice and almond flowers on the nose. The same florality of the lighter white is here, but with a dense texture to accompany it. Nice grip on the finish.
Food: Risotto, mashed potatoes, braised chicken, pork.

2 Bottles of RIPASSO, LA DAMA, 2016 DOC, VENETO

Organic. Made from indigenous grapes: Corvina 50%, Corvinone 20%, Rondinella 25%, Molinara 5%.

La Dama is family-run winery located in the middle of Valpolicella Classica, crafting organic wines characterised by great elegance and balance. Grapes are collected during the first ten days of October and delicately pressed. The first fermentation begins, which aims to preserve the fragrance and elegance of these grapes. At the end of February it is then left to ferment on the marcs of Amarone (Ripasso technique) for about 8-10 days. This gives it character, softness and complexity to the wine. Refining is done in wooden barriques for nearly 2 years and in bottles for at least 6 months. Red and black fruit, with savoury toastiness. Powerful with notes of plum and nutmeg. Lean finish.

2 Bottles of Amarone, LE MARAGNOLE, 2016 DOCG, VENETO, ITALY

Corvina & Corvinone 80%, Rondinella 20% Aged 36 months in new French oak ‘tonneaux’. Aromatic complexity. Bold & elegant, combining the essence of cherry with balsamic & toasted aromas.

Charlie’s Burgers favourite big Italian red: Amarone. The famous product of Verona is made by drying grapes on bamboo, straw or wooden racks, letting the grapes dry out and concentrating the flavour, raising alcohol, and upping the weight and depth. While some of these wines can tend towards syrupy weight and over-extraction, we have sourced a fantastic example from a small family winery, Le Marognole, a traditionally made wine, aged for three years in a mix of new and old French Oak tonneaux (larger barrels).

This Amarone is remarkable not only for its classic combination of balsamic and dark red fruit, but also for how it preserves fruit character alongside darkness and weight. This is true small-scale boutique winemaking, focused on quality over quantity, with a focus on fruit quality in the vineyard The winemaking here is never heavy handed, and the moment you smell this wine, you will be able to tell that this is a wine of grace and balance, not only the power the region is known for. These wines will cellar comfortably for 10-15 years but drink well now with a bit of a decant. Perfect with hard cheeses, torrone, figs and fig jams, and, ideally, a fire and a bearskin rug.

With each purchase, Amex clients receive 2 Riedel Cab/Merlot glasses. These two glasses can be used as universal glass for reds, whites, rosé and even sparkling wines.
